Mortgage Broker Reviews

What To Look For & Why It Matters

Reviews matter, but can you always trust them?

Check out these helpful tips for spotting the real deal.

Why you should care about your mortgage broker's Google reviews...

It's simple really. The reviews will tell you a lot about your broker's reputation.

A good broker will keep you within your budget, give you good financial advice, shop for the lowest rates, and find you the best terms. Its hard work, but the reviews will show you how much they love their job.

A not so reputable broker will will take your loan application and push it through the system. You could lose your house, pay too much for your mortgage, or worse, put yourself in financial destress. The bad brokers, well, they don't have anyone writing glowing reviews-except maybe their mom.

So, how do you know 1) what mortgage broker has the best reviews and 2) are they legitimate? Go to Google and search mortgage brokers reviews near me. Click on the map, and start reading reviews.

Look for:

 - Reputable reviews

 - Experience

 - 5-stars

 - A high count of reviews

 - Reviews spanning years

How to spot REPUTABLE mortgage broker reviews.

It happens, friends give friends reviews. Family members review businesses, and the confidence of the review process is, meh. However, there are a few easy ways to spot a real thread of reviews vs the imposters.

  1. Longevity - when was the first review and when was the last review? If all the reviews are in a single month 3 years ago, you might want to question the mortgage broker's reviews. Look for consistency over a two to three year period. Then you know you got legitimate, reputable reviews about your mortgage broker.
  2. Quantity - it's easy to get 10 to 20 friends and family reviews. But once you see a broker with over 100 reviews, you know they are coming from real people and real past clients.
  3. Specificity - look for the longer reviews and see what people are saying. Not everyone will write a long review, but the more detailed the mortgage broker's review, the more likely it is real.

How to spot EXPERIENCED mortgage broker reviews.

Finding an experienced mortgage broker might be the most important thing you can do to ensure you get the best advice and the best price. Two ways you can make sure your broker has experience:

  1. First and Last - make sure your mortgage broker has at least two years of Google reviews and one review in the last 90 days.
  2. 10 Plus - go to https://nmlsconsumeraccess.org/ and verify your broker has 10 plus years experience.

Once you've found a great mortgage broker, you can refinance or buy that next great home...
